World Circular Economy Forum 2024

Brussels, April 16, 2024 – The World Circular Economy Forum 2024 (WCEF 2024) successfully convened at the Square Meeting Centre in Brussels, where SITES, led by Leonardo Piccinetti and Alessandro Tiraborelli, played a pivotal role in advancing circular economy discussions. The forum provided a platform for stakeholders from across Europe and beyond to share insights and strategies for a sustainable future.

During the event, Leonardo Piccinetti emphasized the urgent need for specialized skills to support the circular economy’s growth. “We need a broader set of skills to drive future jobs in the circular economy, including expertise in life cycle assessment, green procurement, data science, and project management. These competencies are crucial for developing new circular business models that are sustainable and economically viable,” said Piccinetti.

The focus of the forum was not only on skill development but also on fostering international collaborations. SITES led initiatives to strengthen ties with Turkish partners, promoting knowledge exchange and capacity building to support circular economy principles in Turkey. Similarly, collaboration with Norwegian partners leveraged Norway’s sustainability expertise to further global and regional circular economy efforts.

As the forum concluded, the discussions underscored the importance of integrating circular economy strategies across various sectors and regions. Through continued dialogue, knowledge sharing, and partnership cultivation, SITES reaffirmed its commitment to driving systemic change for a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future.
